Sprinkler Fitters U.A. Local 709 is an organization of 950+ Union journeypersons, apprentices, and retirees, who work in the specialized field of fire suppression. We pride ourselves in providing not only the best-trained, but the best-qualified sprinkler fitters in all aspects of fire protection.

Our members install, repair, maintain, inspect, and service all types of fire suppression systems in commercial, residential, and industrial sites. We educate our members through not only a well-rounded 5 yr apprenticeship program, but with continued journeyperson update classes to keep them abreast of any new technological advances in fire suppression.

Local 709 furnishes its signatory contractors with both journeypersons and apprentices that have the knowledge and skill to do a safe, proper, and quality job. Our members realize the overwhelming responsibility of installing fire systems that will operate properly every time, to not only safeguard valuable property but human life as well.

Local 709’s territory includes all areas within Los Angeles City Limits and within 25 miles beyond the City Limits of Los Angeles, all military installations at both Point Magu and Port Hueneme, the cities of Santa Paula, Pomona, Ontario, Santa Ana, San Clemente Island, Catalina Island, and all off-shore and drilling operations between the most northern and southern points of the jurisdiction.
