“The force of union conquers all.”

At this month’s Special Called Meeting, three (3) delegates and one (1) alternate were elected for the 90th California State Pipe Trades Convention. The elected delegates are Ray Calderon, Todd Golden and Ray Denis. The alternate will be Vince Hollins. Along with those elected, the President and Business Manager are automatic delegates due to their position.

Also at this month’s meeting, there was a discussion on the floor regarding the JAC. I announced that the JAC is running low on operating funds and had been doing so for some time. There have been some changes made and there will be more to follow in the coming months. This problem has been around for awhile and will not be fixed overnight. There will need to be many changes to correct the problem.

The California State Pipe Trades Council is accepting applications for $2500 Scholarships. Information is available online at www.calpipes.org or if you do not have internet access, call the office and we will mail a copy to you. All applications must be signed by the Business Manager.

The UA will also be providing Scholarships at a later date. Information will be posted on the UA website at www.ua.org after March 1st.

The SIS Pension Fund change from Wells Fargo to New York Life is now complete. Each participant should have received a mailer detailing the steps one must take to access their account. Either via the internet at www.bcomplete.com or via the toll-free phone number at 1 (800) 294-3575. Also in a recent mailer, there was a letter from the SIS Fund Board of Trustees. In the letter, it was announced that the Trustees have now provided a way for those affected by this long Economic Downturn to access some of their SIS Fund balance. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at the office.

Tax Information from both the Local Union and the Credit Union has been mailed out to each member. If you did not receive yours, please contact Judy or Maribel at the office.

The UA has partnered with Union Labor Life Insurance to provide information regarding supplemental insurance to all of its members. Be on the lookout for the mailer if you are interested.
