To comply with Title 19, California Code of Regulations, Section 939(d), all certifications issued after July 1, 2017 are valid from that date until June 30, 2018.  Title 19, California Code of Regulations, Section 939(d) states, “An original certification shall be valid from the date of issuance through June 30th.  Thereafter, each certification shall be renewed annually and is valid from July 1st through June 30th.” 

The renewal period is from March 1st through June 30th of every year.  The Offices of the State Fire Marshal will send the renewal notice to all certified or registered individuals on or about March 1st every year.

However, the SFM position concerning the 2018-2019 renewals via the information bulletin on the website; says that those who have been issued their certification will not have to pay fees to renew for the 2018-2019 year, but will for the 2019-2020 year next March.  The cards coming from the office will have those stickers on them.
