Our training doesn't end with apprenticeship. We offer extended training programs to keep our members abreast of the latest and greatest in the field. 

In addition to classes designed to keep members up-to-date, we offer a number of certifications to expand your professional repertoire, including:

OSHA Training, First Aid, CPR, Lift Training, Pre-action & Dry Systems, Blaze Master/Lubrizol CPVC Training, Victaulic Vortex System, Copper Solder & Brazing, Hanging & Bracing, Fire Pump Repacking & Rebuild, NFPA 25, Forklift Safety, Architectural Plan Reading, Dry Systems in Refrigerated Spaces, Fall Protection, and Fire Pump Testing.

Spring 2017 (Feb-June) Journeyman Training Schedule

CPR & First Aid – these classes will be scheduled as needed. Class sizes limited to 12. Please call the JAC office to be put on a list. Once we have 6 members signed up, we will schedule the class. 

February 2017

  • Trimble Total Robotic Station Layout (3 nights) – this class is scheduled for Monday, February 27th; Tuesday, February 28th; & Tuesday, March 7th from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm. This class will cover the set up and use of the Total Robotic Station as used for layout of fire protection systems. This class is limited to 8 people. Basic Computer skills are required.

  • Fire Pump Repacking – this class is scheduled for Thursday, February 23rd from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm. This class will cover Fire Pump Repacking of the horizontal spilt case pumps. (Class is Limited to 8 members)

March 2017

  • Dry Systems in Refrigerated Spaces – this class is scheduled for Wednesday, March 1st from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm - this class will cover the basics of Dry Systems in refrigerated spaces.

  • (This class is Full) OSHA 30 Hour – Classes are Thursday Nights 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm for 8 weeks. The dates are March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, April 6, 13, & 20, 2017. The OSHA 30-hour Construction Industry Outreach Training course is a comprehensive safety program designed for anyone involved in the construction industry. You must attend all 8 nights to receive the 30 hour certificate.

  • Reliable Sprinkler Co Pre-Action & Dry Valves – this class is scheduled for March 8th from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm. We will cover the basic set up & trip test of both the new Dry & Pre-Action Valves.

  • UA Customer Service Class (two nights) this class is scheduled for Wednesdays, March 15th & 22nd from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm - this class will help develop the skills needed in various circumstances on the job when doing repairs directly for the end user. May also be useful for newer Foreman in dealing with property owners or contractors.

  • Victaulic Flexible Drop Installation Training Class - Wednesday, March 15th from 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm - this class will give the proper installation methods and requirements on the VicFlex Braided Hoses & Brackets. As well as some of the new technology that is available.

  • Victaulic Flexible Drop Installation Training Class Thursday March 16th from 5:00 pm – 830pm - this class will give the proper installation methods and requirements on the VicFlex Braided Hoses & Brackets as well as some of the new technology that is available.

April 2017

  • Trimble Total Robotic Station Layout (3 nights) – this class is scheduled for Monday, April 10th; Tuesday, April 11th & Tuesday, April 18th from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm - this class will cover the set up and use of the Total Robotic Station as used for layout of fire protection systems. This class is limited to 8 people. Basic Computer skills are required.

  • NFPA 25 California Edition (2 nights) - this class is scheduled for Thursdays, April 20th & 27th from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm. This class covers the NFPA 25 2013 California Edition ITM for water based fire protection systems. We will be using the electronic book version through our online access.

  • Forklift Training – Class is scheduled for Thursday, April 27 from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm - this class will cover the basic safe operation of fork lifts.

May 2017

  • Fire Pump Testing - Thursday, May 4th at 5:00 p.m. (Class size 15 members).  This class is a refresher on Fire pump testing procedures and safety requirements.
  • OSHA 10 Hour – Classes are Thursday Nights 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm for 3 weeks. The dates are May 4, 11, & 18th, 2017. The OSHA 10-hour Construction Industry Outreach Training course is a comprehensive safety program designed for anyone involved in the construction industry. You must attend all 3 nights to receive the 10 hour certificate.
  • Scissor & Boom Lift Training - Class is scheduled for Thursday, May 11th from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm This class will cover the basic safe operation of Arial Platforms.
  • Trimble Total Robotic Station Layout (3 nights) – this class is scheduled for Monday, May 15th; Tuesday, May 16th; & Tuesday, May 23rd from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm. This class will cover the set up and use of the Total Robotic Station as used for layout of fire protection systems. This class is limited to 8 people. Basic Computer skills are required.

June 2017

  • Copper Soldering & Brazing (2 Nights) - this class is scheduled for Tuesdays, June 6th & 13th 2017 from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm. This class will give you the basics of soldering and brazing as well as the proper set up and safety of the equipment used.
  • Basic Alarm & Devices (2 nights) this class is scheduled for Wednesday, June 7th & 14th from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm - this class will help you in using a multimeter device to troubleshoot and set the alarm devices used in our systems.
